Visitor Services Manager

The Lexington, Buena Vista, & Rockbridge Area Tourism program is seeking a Visitor Services Manager.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Executive Director, and will work closely with the Executive Director and the Director of Marketing in the marketing, public relations, advertising, communications, and special event programs associated with tourism promotion.

The Visitor Services Manager is responsible for day to day operations and supervision of travel counselors in Lexington Visitor Center, Buena Vista Visitor Center, and Natural Bridge State Park tourism desk.

This position handles payroll, payables, contract maintenance, supply acquisition, and all other ad hoc assignments from the Executive Director and Director of Marketing.  He/she is also responsible for taking, transcribing, and maintaining minutes from monthly tourism board meetings.

Qualifications for this position include proficient computer skills with ability to work in Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.  The successful candidate must be creative, organized, resourceful and a team player.  College education and/or related experience is required.

City Manager


Buena Vista, an independent City of approximately 6,400 citizens, is in the midst of an economic revitalization and is looking for a new City Manager with the strategic vision, energy, and leadership necessary to accelerate and advance this revitalization.   The City is looking for an experienced, goal-oriented, and data-driven individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

The City Manager must be an integral part of the community by living in the city, participating in local events, and actively engaging with Council, local business leaders, and the citizens. Buena Vista’s FY 2020/2021 general fund budget is approximately $14,000,000 and there are currently seventy City employees under the direction of the City Manager.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years progressively responsible leadership experience.  Master of Public Administration, or equivalent graduate degree, is strongly preferred. Starting salary and benefits are dependent upon qualification and experience. Initial review of the applications will begin October 1, 2020.
