Buena Vista, an independent City of approximately 6,400 citizens, is in the midst of an economic revitalization and is looking for a new City Manager with the strategic vision, energy, and leadership necessary to accelerate and advance this revitalization. The City is looking for an experienced, goal-oriented, and data-driven individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
The City Manager must be an integral part of the community by living in the city, participating in local events, and actively engaging with Council, local business leaders, and the citizens. Buena Vista’s FY 2020/2021 general fund budget is approximately $14,000,000 and there are currently seventy City employees under the direction of the City Manager.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years progressively responsible leadership experience. Master of Public Administration, or equivalent graduate degree, is strongly preferred. Starting salary and benefits are dependent upon qualification and experience. SUMMARY: Performs responsible clerical work and customer service functions. Work involves the receipting of funds related to customer and/or business accounts for taxes, business license, utilities and all other revenue.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to interact patiently, respectfully, with tact and courtesy with the citizens and staff of the City of Buena Vista. The individual must represent the City positively and appropriately at all times.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality, verbal and written communication skills, problem solving ability, attention to detail, flexibility, reliability, and teamwork
- Handle cash safely and securely when processing multiple source payments
- Work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment during busy bill periods
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule during heavy workload
- General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment to include computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, and calculators
- Ability to relate positively with co-workers and the general public on a frequent basis
Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required. Customer service experience preferred.
