The Buena Vista City Electoral Board has released the official notice below regarding the School Board write-in race. The top two candidates are currently separated by just 1.09%. Because of this small margin, the Board cannot declare a winner until all eligible ballots are added, as required by Virginia election law.
Ballots still to be counted include Election Day provisional ballots and mailed absentee ballots postmarked by November 4 and received by 12 PM on November 7, 2025. Once verified, the Board will complete a final count and certify the results at the public canvass meeting on Wednesday, November 12 at 1:00 PM.
We extend our thanks to the candidates for their civic engagement, the poll workers who supported the process, and every voter who contributed. It’s encouraging to see our community stay engaged in the democratic process.
