We’ll start at Red Newt Bikes in Lexington, Virginia and head to the Chessie Trail, a rail trail that connects Buena Vista to Lexington. We’ll ride the 7 mile trail, then switch over the the River Walk trail in Buena Vista to get to our destination, Glen Maury Park.

Red Newt is partnering with Walkabout Outfitter, who will demonstrate some cooking and camping gear. We will set up camp by the river for the night, and ride back Sunday morning.

The ride is mostly on rail trails, it’s a wide, flat, mulch, packed dirt and gravel surfaced trail. There will be short sections on paved roads.

There will be a joint bikepacking demonstration on Wednesday, June 2 at Walkabout Outfitter at 6:30 pm, so if you aren’t sure how to pack your bike or what gear you need, come to the demonstration!
