For Immediate Release

Buena Vista, VA – Downtown Buena Vista is experiencing a remarkable transformation. Once a quiet corridor, the heart of the city has become a vibrant gathering place thanks to intentional grant-supported investment by the City of Buena Vista under the leadership of its Economic and Community Development teams, and the collaboration of local businesses and community partners. Now, Main Street Buena Vista is proud to announce Connect BV, a three-part event series designed to celebrate that transformation and invite everyone–residents, students, and visitors–to come experience downtown together.

In July, Main Street Buena Vista was honored to be selected as one of ten Virginia communities chosen for the Appalachian Regional Commission-supported Downtown Inventory + Real Estate Redevelopment Strategy Project, coordinated by Virginia Main Street. Through this initiative, Buena Vista will gain valuable tools–including building inventories, market analyses, and community visioning sessions–that ensure downtown activation is not only vibrant, but also intentional and data-driven.

A Community-Driven Effort

“Downtown Buena Vista is becoming a hub for connection and celebration,” said Jen Carpenter, Executive Director of Main Street Buena Vista. “Connect BV reflects more than entertainment–it’s about honoring the City’s investment, the dedication of Kristina and Tom and their teams, and the commitment of our local businesses who are helping activate this vibrant downtown space. Together , we’re writing the next chapter of Buena Vista’s story, and we want everyone to be part of it.”

These events are made possible by the combined efforts of the City, local businesses, and community partners who continue to invest their time, creativity, and energy into making downtown thrive.

Connect BV is more than a downtown event–it’s a movement to celebrate community and what we’re building together downtown. Come connect with Buena Vista. Come connect with the community, in the heart of downtown.
