The City of Buena Vista is excited to announce the relaunch of the Façade Improvement Grant Program (FIGP) for 2025!
The Façade Improvement Grant Program is a key initiative designed to support local property owners and tenants in improving the exterior appearance of their properties. The program aims to help foster economic growth, preserve the City’s historic architecture, and enhance the visual appeal of key business districts and gateway areas.
The program offers financial assistance to eligible applicants in the form of reimbursement grants. These grants cover up to 50% of eligible project costs, with a maximum award of $5,000 per property. Improvements that qualify for funding include exterior painting, architectural restoration, lighting enhancements, and masonry repairs.
Key Program Details
- Grant Amount: Up to 50% reimbursement of eligible project costs, with a maximum grant of $5,000 per property
- Eligible Applicants: Commercial property owners and tenants (with property owner approval) and owners of visually blighted residential properties within the designated program area.
- Eligible Improvements: Exterior, street-facing property improvements, including but not limited to painting, architectural restoration, lighting upgrades, masonry repairs, and other enhancements as outlined in the program guide.
- Program Opens: Application period opens January 7, 2025
- Application Deadline: The application period closes on February 7, 2025

Program Administration
The Façade Improvement Grant Program is managed by the City’s Economic Development Department, with oversight and support from the Economic Development Authority (EDA). The EDA will serve as the review panel to ensure that applications are selected through a fair and transparent process.

The official application period opens on January 7, 2025, and will remain open until February 7, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the Facade Improvement Program Guide in advance to familiarize themselves with the application process and eligibility criteria. The application form will be available for download on January 7th.
