Round 2 of Tourism Event Sponsorship Now Open

LEXINGTON, Va. (September 27, 2021) – The Rockbridge Regional Tourism Board is ready to approve a second round of local tourism event sponsorships.

As with the first round of funding in spring 2021, wherein nine events received $8,250 worth of sponsorship monies, the second round will also be exclusive to opportunities occurring within Rockbridge County, Buena Vista, and Lexington. Event organizers may apply for a maximum of $3,000 in sponsorship. Round 2 is for events occurring between January 1-June 30, 2022. Requests must be completed online by October 20, 2021. The Tourism Board will review requests and award more than $9,000 based on the strength of the request and how well the event aligns with tourism goals and objectives for the entire region. Awards will be announced by November 24, 2021, and funds distributed by December 31, 2021.

“So far in 2021 tourism has proven to be invaluable to local COVID-19 economic recovery,” said Tourism Director Jean Clark. “In June Rockbridge Regional Tourism awarded more than $8,000 to local events to spur their growth and assist with pandemic rebound. We’ve witnessed the success of the Lime Kiln Summer Concert Series, Music in the Garden at Boxerwood, the Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo, and the July 4th Fireworks Celebration. As we eagerly await the sponsored events yet to come this fall, we are also certain the continuation of event sponsorship in 2022 will prove just as conducive.”
