Project Background
As downtown continues its reemergence as a dynamic environment to live, work, and play, we began exploring a vibrant community gathering space. In 2021, the City purchased the property at the corner of 21st Street and Magnolia Avenue thanks to a generous grant from the Virginia Outdoors Foundation. From there, we began work with the community to plan and develop this downtown community gathering space.

Complete Phase 1 construction
Completed the major construction of the space, including concrete and utility work.
Spring 2024 Timber Frame Build
Partnered with local timber framers & VMI to build the market pavilion.
Fall 2024 Timber Frame Build
Partnering with the local timber framers to build the cover for the stage!
